ALLEN PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Lions are letting quarterback Tim Boyle go as they make NFL-mandated roster cuts.
Boyle was on the roster last year and had been working to be Jared Goff’s backup. David Blough has won that spot.
Linebacker Jarrad Davis, wide receivers Tom Kennedy and Kalil Pimpleton, and tight end Devin Funchess are also being cut. The roster has to be cut to 53 players today.
Detroit opens the regular season at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 11.
