Wayne K. Smith, 69, of Homer, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Wayne will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha, 914 N. Main Street, Tekonsha, MI, with Pastor Brian Perry and Pastor Doug Kempton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2022, also at the church.
Interment will take place at a later date at West Clarendon Cemetery.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.
Wayne was born on April 12, 1953 to Dale and Jannie (Kempton) Smith in Concord. He graduated from Homer High School with the Class of 1971. On January 22, 1971 he married Alice Thomas in New Castle, PA.
Wayne was a jack of all trades and worked as a carpenter and handyman. He enjoyed farming, cooking, baking, woodworking, wood carving, hunting, fishing, raising 4-H hogs for his family, archery competitions, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and activities.
Surviving is his wife, Alice Smith of Homer; children, Wayne (Kim) Smith II of Homer, Melissa (Matt) West of Milan, MI and Rachel Smith of Marshall; grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Luke Smith, Heather Smith, Alex West and Austin West; and brothers, Mark (Dee) Smith and Brent Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Owens.
