COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals hosted Plainwell for a JV and varsity football doubleheader Thursday at Cardinal Field, with the Trojans coming away with a sweep of the night.
In the varsity contest, the Cardinals were held to 126 total yards of offense as Plainwell posted a 49-0 shutout. The Trojans amassed 414 total yards of offense, with quarterback Ryan Koob going 11-for-15 passing for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Zach Coffing led Coldwater with 19 carries for 60 yards; he was also 4-for-6 passing for 33 yards. Evan Porter, Evan Hamilton, Donte Work, and Jack Ruden each had 4 tackles to lead the defense.
The Cardinals fell to 0-2 on the season and will host Marshall next Friday, September 9.
