Rosaline DeVore, 76, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Rosaline was born August 15, 1946 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Meyer & Elizabeth (Kushber) DeVore .
To know her was to love her. Rosaline was not blessed with the gift of sight nor the ability to verbally communicate. Due to her limited abilities and her family’s inability to care for her special needs after her father passed, Rosaline was placed at the Coldwater Regional Center at a young age.
In 1987 she moved into the Adapt Inc.’s, Grant Street Home in Bronson where she lived for 32 years. She later moved into the Haven Home in Coldwater, also part of the Adapt family of group homes, where she was lovingly cared for until her passing.
Though Rosaline was mentally and physically challenged, she lived life to the fullest extent possible, loving those around her both housemates and care givers. She was especially close to her roommate of 35 years.
Rosaline loved the little things in life, especially her toys and hats, often having more than one atop her head. She never refused a meal and found fun in wearing oven mitts. She had a quirky smile with a sense of humor and although she couldn’t speak, she was very vocal. Rosaline enjoyed the outdoors whether it was camping on the ADAPT trips, sitting by the campfire, listening to the sounds of nature, picnics in the park, or just taking a stroll in her neighborhood.
The staff of the ADAPT residences where she lived became her family, as she also became theirs, often being included in activities outside the home.
Rosaline has touched the lives of many people who have cared for her, spreading joy, laughter, and an appreciation for life.
Rosaline is survived by many very special friends and caregivers at ADAPT, Terry Laukhuf of Coldwater, Bobbie Jo Lewis of Bronson and her very special room-mate of 35 years, Elaine.
