VERMONTVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The Big 8 Conference announced Thursday that Maple Valley High School in Vermontville will become the seventh member of the league beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, joining Bronson, Quincy, Union City, Reading, Concord, and Springport.
The league mentioned Maple Valley’s traditions of athletics and sportsmanship and its top-notch facilities in a statement announcing the move, adding that the other league members are looking forward to working with Maple Valley and to further league expansion.
The Big 8 will be losing founding members Homer and Jonesville to the Cascades Conference in 2023. Maple Valley’s current league, the Greater Lansing Athletic Conference (GLAC), is also losing members, with Leslie also set to join the Cascades and with Olivet and Lake Odessa Lakewood defecting to the Capital Area Activities Conference (CAAC) next year.
