BALTIMORE, MD (WKZO AM/FM) – The Baltimore Orioles were dealt a blow to their playoff hopes after a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers Tuesday.
The team trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh until Gunnar Henderson hit a two-run homer to cut the deficit to one.
Detroit pitching was able to shut down the Orioles late rally as Gregory Soto earned the save.
Baltimore is now five-and-a-half games back of Tampa Bay for the third Wild Card spot. Akil Baddoo and Kerry Carpenter crushed homers for Detroit, who will go for the sweep Wednesday.
