EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers not only control their own destiny for winning the Big 8 Conference football title, they are also in the hunt for a post season bid.
The 4-1 Chargers are ranked 15th in Division Seven with 31.2 points in the first power point standings of the season that were released on Monday by the M.H.S.A.A..
The top 32 teams in the eight divisions of 11 person football qualify for the post season.
After dropping their season opener at Centreville, the Chargers have defeated Quincy, Jonesville, Reading and Homer to grab first place in the Big 8 with two conference games remaining against Bronson and Springport.
Meanwhile, the Bronson Vikings are 2-3 and they still have a shot at the playoffs.
The 2-3 Vikings are ranked 40th with 16.067 playoff points.
In the 8-person football playoff rankings, the 4-1 Tekonsha Indians are ranked 15th in Division One with 24.2 points.
