DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Miguel Cabrera hit his fifth home run as the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1 at Comerica Park last night.
Cabrera’s two-run shot in the bottom of the first gave Detroit its only two runs of the victory. It was the 507th homer of his career.
Daniel Norris earned his first win in relief, while Gregory Soto picked up his 29th save.
Detroit is on a five-game winning streak.
MJ Melendez went deep to lead off the game for the Royals, who have dropped three-of-four. Daniel Lynch was charged with his 12th loss after giving up two runs in six innings.
The Tigers host Kansas City in the final game of the three game series this afternoon, with the opening pitch at 1:10 p.m. They need just one more win over their last eight games to avoid 100 losses on the season.
