TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – Calhoun County Senior Services will present the first Tekonsha Senior Health and Safety Fair at the Tekonsha Fire Station on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m..
The Tekonsha Fire Station is located at 166 Spires Parkway in Tekonsha.
The timing of the event coincides with Fire Prevention Week and Medicare Open Enrollment.
Complementary coffee, water, and donut holes will be served throughout the event, and there will be a free lunch starting at 11:30 a.m.
Miles for Memories’ and the Cancer Prevention Coalition’s giant inflatable brain and colon will be present for guests to walk through, and over 50 vendors from area businesses, nonprofit organizations, public services, and health care providers will be available, which all specialize in services to older adults.
Bivalent COVID booster and flu shots will be provided by Disability Rights Michigan and DocGo; the Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority will be providing blood pressure checks; and the Lions Club will be testing blood sugar.
Presentations on SMART 911 and the RAVE Alert Program, Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS), Advance Care Planning and Financial Abuse and Scams will be held throughout the event.
Miles for Memories will also be registering older adults for their Help Home and ID bracelet program.
Senior Health Partners will hold a Tai Chi class in the morning and Keep Move’in exercise class in the early afternoon. There will also be Certified Medicare Counselors on site to answer questions on Medicare coverage.
The public, especially older adults, caregivers, and family members, are invited to attend.
