PARMA, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Freshmen Volleyball Team went undefeated on Saturday at the Interstate 8 tournament hosted by Parma Western.
The Cardinals defeated Lumen Christi in the first round by the scores of 16-25, 25-22, and 15-13.
In the second round, the Cardinals defeated Jackson Northwest in straight sets 25-17 and 26-24.
In the silver finals, the match was called a draw with the Panthers winning the first game 24-26 and the Cardinals winning a tough second game 27-25.
Madison Stumpf led the team on the day with 11 kills and 3 aces. Many other Cardinals chipped in as well.
Mackenzie VanDongen had 5 kills and 3 aces; Samantha Bernard had 3 kills and 3 aces; Ava Gilchrist had 3 kills and 2 aces; Halie McFarland had 3 kills and 3 aces; Alyssa Carreon had 2 kills and 2 aces; Abby Garcia had 3 kills. Abby Garcia led the team with assists with Joslynn Bitar also contributing. In the back row, Maria Ortiz and Alyssa Carreon came through with multiple digs.
The Freshmen team will end their season on Wednesday as they will host Parma Western.
