COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While last year saw the graduation of 14 seniors, the majority of this year’s roster for the Coldwater High School varsity soccer team will return next year, and the team celebrated this year’s season at their awards banquet this past Sunday.
Juniors Arif Ahmed, Ezaldeen Ahmed, and Nabil Saied, along with senior Austin Atkins were named to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association All District Team, while seniors Steven Covell and Yasin Yehya were named Division 2 Academic All State.
Arif Ahmed, Austin Atkins, and Nabil Saied were selected Interstate 8 All Conference First Team, with Ezaldeen Ahmed and Laith Musa named Honorable Mention.
Steven Covell, Ghaith Musa, and Yasin Yehya were named Interstate 8 Academic All Conference.
In awards selected by their teammates, Arif Ahmed was named Best Offensive Player, Austin Atkins and Tammum Ahmed were selected Best Defensive Players, Pedro Ocampo was picked as Hardest Worker, Franky Ramos was named Rookie of the Year, and Atkins was named both Most Improved and Most Valuable Player. Steven Covell received The Cardinal Way Coaches Award.

The varsity team finished with an overall record of 8-8-3 and 5-1-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference, good for a second place finish behind Parma Western.
For the Junior Varsity, Austin Accardi was named Best Offensive Player, Mohsen Umari named Best Defensive Player, Mohammed Naji picked as Most Improved, Umari Umari named Hardest Worker, and Niko Downs was selected Most Valuable Player. Austin Barnett received The Cardinal Way Coaches Award.
