COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman says in his Commissioners Monthly Report that Mike Searing of Coldwater has been hired as the Nutrition Director for the Branch County Commission on Aging,
Norman says Searing started his new job on Tuesday. Searing previously served as a food service director and has over 20 years of experience in his line of work.
The Nutrition Director has a starting salary of over $51,000 and will supervise 10 or more paid and volunteer staff members.
They would also facilitate and oversee congregate meal service and the delivery of meals to home bound seniors as well as compile and report on the data required for these programs.
The position was created by the Commission on Aging and approved by the Branch County Board of Commissioners after the Community Health Agency Board of Health awarded the state and federally funded grant contract through the Area Agency on Aging for home delivered and congregate meals to the Commission on Aging.
The Commission on Aging is hoping to eliminate the home delivered meals waiting list by September of 2023.
Community Action Agency and the Commission on Aging are working together during the three month transition period.
Community Action will continue to distribute Home Delivered Meals and Congregate Meals programs through December 31, 2022, when the Commission on Aging will be fully staffed to take over the program for the community.
For the remainder of 2022, the meal programs for existing home delivered meals, congregate meals, and restaurant voucher clients will be administered the same way that they have been.
