LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Voter turnout across Michigan appears strong, a state election official said Tuesday, as an estimated 2 million people were expected to vote by absentee ballot.
Michigan Secretary of State chief of external affairs Jake Rollow told reporters Tuesday it appears voters were casting in-person ballots in numbers exceeding the August primary and the 2020 general election.
“We’re seeing strong turnout and hearing about strong turnout across the state.”
The polls are open until 8:00 p.m. today in Michigan for the midterm elections.
Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, the U.S. House, and the state Legislature will be decided with the vote.
There are three proposals on the ballot as well, with Proposal 1 modifying legislative term limits, Proposal 2 codifying voting policies in the state constitution, and Proposal 3 restoring reproductive rights to the state constitution the same as under the U.S. Supreme Court’s now-overturned Roe v. Wade decision.
