KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Heading into December, mail carriers with the U.S. Postal Service will be delivering in many communities throughout Michigan as early as 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
According to USPS, the busiest time for mail begins two weeks before Christmas.
“The holidays are a time people send their best well wishes and seasons tidings sealed in greeting cards and wrapped snug in boxes to extended family and friends. Rest assured, this is our season and we have prepared all year to deliver certainty and continuity this holiday, and that means starting early in the morning,” USPS said in a statement Friday, November 25.
USPS recommended the following mailing and shipping deadlines for expected delivery by Dec. 25 to domestic addresses and Air/Army Post Office/Fleet Post Office/Diplomatic Post Office (APO/FPO/DPO) addresses:
Dec. 9 — APO/FPO/DPO (all ZIP Codes) Priority Mail and First-Class Mail
Dec. 16 — APO/FPO/DPO (except ZIP Code 093) USPS Priority Mail Express Military service
Dec. 17 — USPS Retail Ground service
Dec. 17 — First-Class Mail service (including greeting cards)
Dec. 17 — First-Class packages (up to 15.99 ounces)
Dec. 19 — Priority Mail service
Dec. 23 — Priority Mail Express* service
