Walter “ Walt” Lewis Tresenriter, 68, of Fremont, Indiana, formerly of Union City, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cremation has taken place and no public services will be held. He will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
Walt was born October 2, 1954 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Ray and Evelyn (Bates) Tresenriter. He graduated from Union City High School in 1972 and attended Olivet College. On June 28, 1975 he married the former Shayne Cooper in Union City. They were very family oriented. For decades, they, their kids and later grandkids enjoyed going to Fort Myers Beach in Florida annually for Spring Break.
Walt was employed as the plant manager for Triangle Rubber Company in Goshen, IN. He liked following University of Michigan football, watching high school sports and coaching his children while they were growing up.
He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. But there was nothing he loved more than being involved in the lives of his grandkids over the past 12 years – he never missed anything they were involved in. He had been the same with his own children, always there for them when they needed him and even when they didn’t know they did.
Left to cherish Walt’s memory are his wife of 47 years, Shayne; his children, Sarah (James) Lyon of Fremont, IN, Lance (Bailey) Tresenriter of Angola, IN, Megan Tresenriter of Bloomington, IN and Allyn Tresenriter of Evansville, IN; his grandchildren, Hayden and Allison Lyon of Fremont, IN and Cameron and Claire Tresenriter of Angola, IN; his siblings, Gloria (Leonard) Shumate of Battle Creek and Charles “Chuck” Tresenriter of Coldwater; and several nieces and nephews.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Allen Tresenriter; his in-laws, Charles and Joan Cooper; and his brother-in-law, Randie Cooper.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
