BERRIEN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities have made three arrests and have seized approximately 125 pounds of black-market marijuana in three separate investigations recently in Berrien County. .
According to a press release from the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team – West Office, the first arrest was made on Sunday, November 27 when Berrien County Sheriff deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon complaint on County Line Road in Watervliet Township.
There, a 47-year-old Kentucky man allegedly threatened another man with a firearm. Police then discovered a large amount of marijuana, leading them to call the MSP Southwest Enforcement Team for assistance. Investigators found the suspect to be in possession of 125 pounds of black-market marijuana, a small amount of cocaine, two pistols, two rifles and two shotguns.
He was subsequently arrested and lodged in the Berrien County jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges will be sought later from the prosecutor’s office for marijuana, firearms, and cocaine violations.
On Tuesday, November 29, SWET detectives assisted MSP troopers who stopped a 29-year-old Grand Rapids man who was selling crystal methamphetamine from his vehicle in the River Terrace Apartment complex at 200 River Terrace Dr in Benton Harbor. The man was found with 56 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his pants pocket. He was subsequently arrested and lodged in the Berrien County jail for possession with intent to deliver crystal
methamphetamine 2nd offense and maintaining a drug vehicle.
And on Thursday, December 1st, police arrested a 32-year-old Benton Harbor man and executed a search warrant on Ogden Avenue near Summerfelt Drive in Benton Township. There SWET detectives located and seized approximately 1.5 pounds of black-market marijuana packaged for sale along with a stolen firearm from Tennessee.
The suspect was arrested and lodged in the Berrien County jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug house and three local traffic warrants.
