BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s eighth graders and Union City’s seventh graders have advanced to the finals of the Big Eight Conference Middle School Boys Basketball Tournament.
The Quincy eighth grade team defeated Jonesville 29-26 win in the semi final round of the tournament at Concord on Wednesday night.
Alex Dunn led the Orioles with nine points while Noah Rufenacht made clutch free throws late in the game and finished with four points.
Isaiah Staggs also had four points. Christian Craven added five points including a three pointer in the final minutes of the game.
With the win, the Orioles advance to the Big Eight Championship round this Saturday. Game time is set for 10:15 a.m. at Homer High School.
Meanwhile, the Union City seventh graders defeated Springport on Wednesday night 45-40. Nolan Chard led the Chargers with 33 points.
Union City advances to the seventh grade tournament finals where they will face Jonesville on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Springport.
