KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Federal Aviation Administration’s shut down on Wednesday, January 11 no doubt affected thousands across the country with delayed flights and other travel woes.
But at the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, most scheduled early morning flights had already departed before the shutdown, with the exception of a 7 a.m. flight to Chicago.
While passengers on that flight may have been inconvenienced with the delay, Airport Director Craig Williams says the FAA’s computer notification system operated as it should, prompting the approximately one-and-a-half-hour shutdown.
And in William’s book, use of the system means complete operational safety inside and out.
The safety system was fully restored at 8:54 a.m. that morning.
