JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Lady Cardinals moved into a first place tie in the Interstate 8 girls basketball standings on Tuesday night after they went on the road and defeated the Division 1 8th ranked Jackson Northwest Mounties 57-51.
Coldwater led 30-26 at the half thanks to a 50 foot 3-point heave by Elli Foley from just behind the 10 second line.
The Cardinals held a one point lead with just under 2 minutes to play and forced Northwest to foul.
Foley hit 4 straight free throws to sew it up for the Cards. She led all scorers with 20 points and added five assists and five rebounds.
Elli Anderson added 17 points to go along with four rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Coldwater improves to 16-1 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
Northwest won the JV game 27-13.
Also in Branch County girls basketball on Tuesday night, Bronson lost at Adrian Lenawee Christian 59-52 as the Vikings record dropped to 14-2.
Quincy won at Hillsdale 45-36 as Deziray Skirka led the Orioles with 17 points and Alyssa McCavit grabbed 12 rebounds.
