STURGIS, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A suspect wanted in connection with a murder at a Sturgis motel was arrested on Monday in Gary, Indiana.
The Sturgis Department of Public Safety says Cameron Stephon Hope was taken into custody by the Indiana State Police on a warrant for the December 29 murder of Jeremy Lampaert.
The department said they had a person of interest a few days after Lampaert was found with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Country Hearth Inn on South Centerville Road.
Police say he later died at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Hope was being held in the Lake County Jail awaiting extradition back to St. Joseph County.
The Michigan State Police assisted the Sturgis Department of Public Safety during the investigation.
