NEWTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police troopers from the Marshall post are investigating a recent incident in which a Calhoun County homeowner was scammed by three men.
They say a homeowner in Newton Township was approached by the men on February 15 who offered to re-seal their driveway and the exposed walls of the basement of the home.
The men were described as being in their early to mid-thirties and driving a pair of black pick-up trucks.
One man said they had done previous work on the home in years past while working for another company.
State Police say the men sprayed the drive with a black colored liquid in a couple areas and then told the resident they would finish after payment.
The resident was offered a better discount if they paid in cash. After receiving payment, the subjects left the area without completing any more work.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police Marshall Post at (269) 558-0500 and mention incident number 54-1163-23.
