QUINCY TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Hundreds of Consumers Energy customers east of Coldwater were without power Friday morning after a vehicle crashed into a power pole near the intersection of Newton and Fox Roads.
The crash was reported at about 3:45 a.m.. First reports from the Coldwater Fire Department indicate a power line was knocked down which caused a nearby field fire.
About a half acre was consumed by the flames. One person was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Coldwater and Quincy firefighters were at the scene along with the Michigan State Police and Coldwater Police.
Consumers Energy crews initially had most of the outages taken care of by 6:00 a.m. but the power went out again later on and affected over 500 customers.
The power outage roughly covered an area east of I-69 between Jonesville, East Fenn Road and Ridge Road.
