COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s girls softball team dropped both ends of their season opening doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon to Vicksburg by scores of 11-7 and 3-1.
The twinbill was switched to Coldwater due to unplayable field conditions at Vicksburg.
Vicksburg used a pair of four run innings in their opening game victory.
The Bulldogs opened up a 9-3 lead before the Cardinals rallied for two runs in the last of the fifth and two more in the sixth. But Vicksburg got a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
Rylie Van Aken led the Coldwater offense with three hits including a homer and two RBI’s. Alexis Bills also drove in a pair of runs.
Pitching and defense dominated the second game as Vicksburg won thanks to a two run fifth inning. Coldwater only managed to collect two hits in the nightcap.
The Cardinals are scheduled to host Bronson on Thursday afternoon.
