COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team evened their record at 2-2 on Thursday night as they swept a doubleheader from Branch County rival Bronson by scores of 4-2 and 11-1.
It was the season opening doubleheader for the Vikings.
Kenzie Scheid drove in three runs with a pair of doubles in the opening game. Rylie Van Aken also had a couple of hits for Coldwater. Winning pitcher Alexis Bills struck out nine in going the distance.
Haylie Wilson had three of the Bronson hits. Brealyn Lasky had two hits including an RBI double.
Scheid was the winning pitcher in the second game as she struck out four in five innings of work. Van Aken drove in two runs with a double and a triple. Bills had a two-run triple. Danika Cox had an RBI double.
Wilson drove in the only Bronson run with a sacrifice fly.
