QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles for a second day in a row had traffic all over the base paths as they swept the Reading Rangers by scores of 17-1 and 16-0 in their Big 8 Conference opening doubleheader.
Quincy has scored 65 runs in their last four games. Brady Mescher and Dreden Feltner were the winning pitchers against the Rangers.
Mescher fired a one hitter in the opener and struck out six. Feltner had a banner day striking out 14 batters while allowing just two hits before being removed from the game via pitch count.
Hunter Tinervia finished up with 1 1/3 innings of relief and recorded 3 strikeouts. In its last 5 games the Oriole pitching staff has not allowed more than two runs in a game.
On the offensive end, Mescher had four hits in the twinbill including a triple and a double. He also drove in five runs and had three stolen bases.
Tinervia stole three bases. Riley Miner scored four times on two hits while stealing three bases.
The Orioles walked 19 times in the doubleheader and stole 13 total bases. They are now 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big 8 Conference.
