GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday which means there will be critical fire weather conditions.
The Red Flag Warning covers most of Lower Michigan. It includes Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Allegan and Barry Counties.
Forecasters are calling for winds to come out of the southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
The relative humidity will be as low as 21 percent and temperatures are expected to climb to between 75 and 82 degrees.
Burn restrictions will likely be in effect. The combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Be careful with any activities that could potentially lead to a wildfire.
Camping, outdoor grills, smoking materials, chain saws and all terrain vehicles have the potential to throw a spark and ignite a dangerous and destructive fire.
