BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals managed a split of their Interstate 8 baseball doubleheader at Harper Creek on Thursday afternoon.
Harper Creek won the opener 11-0 but Coldwater bounced back to win the nightcap 4-2.
Garrett Johns had three hits including a three run homer and drove in all four runs for the Cardinals in the second game. Cam Heineman was the winning pitcher.
Coldwater is now 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Interstate 8. They will host the Pat Lowe Invitational on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Union City Chargers defeated Hillsdale 10-7 at Alumni Field in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.
The second game was halted by darkness in the fourth inning with Union City leading 9-7. No word yet if the non-conference game will be completed.
