STEVENSVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater went 2-1 on Saturday at the Stevensville-Lakeshore Invitational tournament.
The Cardinals defeated Unity Christian 6-5 in eight innings and top ranked Allen Park 3-1 before they lost to Lakeshore in the finals 8-0.
Coley Burkhardt’s steal of home in the top of the eighth against Unity Christian proved to be the winning run. Winning pitcher Alexis Bills struck out nine. She along with Rylie Van Aken homered.
Mackenzie Scheid was the winning pitcher against Allen Park and she helped her own cause at the plate. Scheid led the Cardinals offensively with three hits while Karlie Knisely had two hits.
Coldwater only managed two hits in the loss to Lakeshore. The Cardinals record is now 8-3.
