BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Both of the Union City track teams got a pair of victories in a Big 8 Conference double dual meet hosted by Quincy on Wednesday night.
The Union City boys defeated the host Orioles 86-50 and Springport 103-28. Quincy managed to defeat Springport 106 1/2 to 20 1/2.
The Union City girls knocked off Quincy 72-65 and Springport 76-46. Quincy defeated Springport 104-31.
The following Branch County athletes finished first in their events…
Union City boys…Alex Hull (200), Hunter Sinke (400), Cohen Burdick (800), Ben Gautsche (1600), Jason Shoop (3200), Nathaniel Maurer (300 hurdles) and Logan Cole (shot put and discus). The Chargers won all of the relay races.
Quincy boys…Ethan Hollister (100 and long jump), Clayton Benson (high jump) and Corey Turner (pole vault).
Union City girls…Adalynn Rumsey (200 and long jump), Kyla Burdick (800) and Skyler Fraley (1600 and 3200). The Chargers won the 400, 800 and 3200 relays.
Quincy girls…Elizabeth Craig (400), Brookelyn Parker (100 hurdles and 300 hurdles) and Sophia Snellenberger (shot put), Lita Fulton (pole vault). The Orioles won the 1600 relay.
Meanwhile, Bronson competed in a Big 8 Conference meet with Concord and Reading that was hosted by the Rangers on Wednesday night. Meet scores were not posted at athletic.net. Bronson winners were Aden Hathaway in the boys 1600 and Jaiden Hayes in the girls 100. The Bronson girls also won the 800 relay.
