COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal baseball picked up a pair of non-conference wins against Jonesville Thursday at Lowe Field, winning the opener 5-2 and taking the nightcap 7-5.
In the first game, Coldwater scored two runs in the first inning and added three runs in the second thanks to Drake Thornton’s RBI triple. Thornton also singled, and Evan Porter had a double. Ian Stough got the win on the mound, while Landon Auble earned the save.
The Cardinals snapped a 3-3 tie in the second game by scoring three runs in the fifth inning. They added an insurance run in the sixth. Stough and Garrett Johns had two hits apiece, and Auble threw two hitless innings in relief to pick up the win.
Coldwater improves to 12-10 overall and will play in a tournament at Portage Northern on Saturday.
