COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals baseball team went 1-2 in their annual Stout and Sons invitational tournament on Saturday.
The Cardinals lost to DeWitt 12-3 in their opening game as the Panthers broke the game open with a six run fifth inning. Ethan Parker had two singles and scored twice for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals bounced back to score a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over Haslett. Evan Porter was the winning pitcher in relief. Garrett Johns earned the save.
Jack Ruden and Owen Tappenden both drove in three runs. Ruden and Porter both had doubles. Drake Thornton had two singles.
The Cardinals could not hold onto an early lead and lost to Grand Rapids Christian 8-4 in their final game. Porter and Ruden each drove in a run.
Coldwater’s record is now 13-16. They will play at Jackson Northwest on Tuesday.
