BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings softball team took two more steps to a second straight undefeated Big 8 Conference season on Tuesday as they swept the Quincy Orioles by scores of 8-4 and 11-5.
Bronson won the twin bill despite some sloppy defense which saw them give up five unearned runs.
Addison Harris was the winning pitcher in the first game and helped her cause with two hits. Haylie Wilson led the Viking offense with three hits. Roni Bir and Lydia Wells both doubled. Bir drove in two runs.
Quincy was paced at the plate by McKynna Connin who had four hits and two RBIs. Payton Gross contributed three hits.
Ashlynn Harris had three hits and two stolen bases in the second game. Wilson drove in two runs. Wells had two doubles while Aubree Calloway and Kaylee Wilber both had two hits.
Kailey Allman had three hits for Quincy in the second game while Connin drove in four runs.
Bronson Coach Becky Gray said, “We did not play well tonight. We were very fortunate to come away with 2 wins. I was happy we were able to score runs tonight. We need to work hard to get back on track defensively.”
A post on the Quincy Community Schools Facebook page stated, “Coaching staff was extremely proud of how the girls came out and played tonight. In a season were injuries from both the JV and Varsity teams, players have had to step up and play positions maybe for the first time.”
The Vikings are now 21-10 overall and 12-0 in the Big 8 Conference. Quincy’s record is now 10-13 overall and 7-5 in the league.
