FABIUS TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Sturgis woman was killed Tuesday morning when her SUV went off of northbound U.S. 131 in St. Joseph County and crashed into a tree.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office says their deputies were dispatched just before 2:30 a.m. to U.S. 131 and King Road.
The unidentified woman was found deceased in the vehicle.
The name of the fatal victim has not been released. The Sheriff’s Office say she was the vehicle’s only occupant.
The crash is still under investigation but the Sheriff’s Department says seat belts were not worn.
Assisting agencies included the Three Rivers Police Department, MDOT, Victim Services and the Western Michigan Medical Examiner’s Office.
