HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 12, 2023) – To say that the Michigan Republican Party is floundering may be an understatement to some.
MIRS News is reporting that police were called to the Doherty Hotel in Clare on Saturday following an altercation at a closed door meeting of the party’s state committee. At issue was GOP coffers that are reportedly only around $92,000, and more than two thirds of that cash is purportedly earmarked for holding the party’s annual Mackinac Island conference in September. In addition, some in the state GOP are not happy with the direction of party chairwoman Kristina Karamo and are looking to replace her with Ottawa County Board Chairman Joe Moss.
All this has made Republican leaders in the Legislature such as Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt of Lawton shake their heads.
The former state Lottery Commissioner believes that the party’s priorities are awry.
Nesbitt made his remarks during his monthly appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.”
