BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is no longer included in the weekly U.S. Drought Monitor report thanks to a soggy month of July.
The latest report released on Thursday showed things have improved in Branch County to the point it is no longer considered abnormally dry.
Most of Branch County was in a severe drought due to the lack of rainfall for almost two months according to the July 6 report from the U.S. Drought Monitor while moderate drought conditions were being reported in far northern part of the county.
Things turned around in July as the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm recorded rain on 13 days and measured a total of 6.66 inches for the month.
This follows 1.24 inches being measured for all of June and 1.63 inches during the month of May at that location.
