Albert F. “Al” Groholske, 94, of Tekonsha, passed away at home Saturday, August 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 8220 M-60 Union City, MI, 49094 with the Very Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard Township.
Visitation will take place from 2:0-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Lighthouse of Tekonsha, 616 N. Main St. Tekonsha, MI, 49092.
Al was born on May 13, 1929 to Steve and Mary (Wotta) Groholske in Girard Township and grew up in the Tekonsha area. On October 14, 1950, he married the love of his life, Donna “Jean” Williams, in Tekonsha.
Al was a farmer all his life, took great pride in his work and was proud to have his son, Ryan, continue his legacy. Along with his brother, Ed Groholski, he owned and operated Groholske Brothers Stockyards in Burlington. Al was also a real estate agent, working for Hill Realty and Ed Groholski Realty. Additionally, he was a DeKalb Seed dealer (The best seed on the market).
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, were he served on the parish council and finance committee. Al enjoyed farm life and spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL. You rarely saw him without his wife, Jean, out and about in the community. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
Surviving are Al’s wife of 72 years, Jean Groholske of Tekonsha; sons, Ryan (Krista) Groholske of Tekonsha and Steve Groholske of Jackson; and daughters, Sally (Andre, Jr.) Cima of Lake Worth, FL, Peggy Hampton of Tekonsha and Robin (Bud) Norman of Coldwater; grandchildren, Zeb (Megan) Norman, Zach (Jaclyn) Norman, Zane Norman, Mackenzie Norman, Tara (George) Veater, Travis (Alysa) Hampton, Trevor (Chelsey) Hampton, Troy (Cassie) Hampton, Andre Cima III, Jean Marie Cima and Barric Groholske; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ed, Sr., Steve, Jr., Irvin and Jerry Groholske.
