Jane was born April 17, 1936 in Coldwater, Michigan to Kenneth and Ruth (Stanley) Paradine. She grew up in Coldwater and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1955. On May 18, 1957, she married Carl Wayne Gillette in Indiana. Carl passed in February of 2023.
Jane spent many years as a teller and proofer for Branch County Savings Bank, retiring from Southern Michigan Bank and Trust in 1999.
When Jane wasn’t working, she absolutely adored watching her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, making it to as many events as she could. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, watching old westerns, heading out to the races and cooking. Jane made the best pumpkin and apple pies with homemade crust and a mac’n cheese to die for.
She is survived by her children: Doug (Renee) Gillette, Dennis (Sherri) Gillette and Donna Heinemann, all of Coldwater; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way; five great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Betty Wagnor of Coldwater, Shirley Stanley of Detroit, and Yvonne Poole of Quincy; LuAnn Howard and her daughter Mari-Lynn Marquart, whom she and her husband helped raise as a child; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; both parents; a son, Donald Gillette; a granddaughter, Jessica Bates; a great-grandson, Canton Gillette; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Meyer.
