COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Driving on the west side of Coldwater will become even more challenging next week.
The City of Coldwater has announced that the planned paving of Butters Avenue from U.S. 12 to Race Street will begin this Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Construction is estimated to be complete by Friday, September 15, 2023.
During this time, this section of Butters Avenue will be closed to traffic.
Drivers are asked to proceed cautiously through the detour area. The detour route is Jay Street to Garfield Avenue.
The Butters Avenue work is on top of the continuing construction at the Coldwater River bridge which is affecting traffic west of Western Avenue. The project includes construction and new guard rails on the bridge, the repaving of Willow Lane and sidewalks on the north side of U.S. 12.
That project is scheduled to continue until the middle of November.
If you have any questions, call the City of Coldwater at (517) 279-9501.

This Bridge on 12 has become a Bridge Too Far! It was to far gone and should have been taken completely out and replaced with a whole new structure. Indiana replaced two overpasses in less time and this bridge is not done yet. Being patched and welded a waste of time and money. We will be fortunate if it doesn’t fall into the channel.
