BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The lights came back on for over 3,500 Consumers Energy customers late Friday night and early Saturday morning after equipment failure caused power outages east of Coldwater.
The lights went out at about 12:18 a.m. on Friday morning.
Consumers Energy spokesperson Josh Paciorek said, “The cause of the outage is equipment failure at a distribution transformer bank at one of our substations.”
He added a mobile transformer had to be installed as crews worked on repairing the issue.
Those without power represented almost 21 percent of the number of Consumers Energy customers in Branch County.
The area affected by the outages in Branch County was from roughly I-69 east to near the Branch-Hillsdale County line and between East Girard and East Central Roads.
The outages included the village of Quincy and the entire Marble Lake chain.
