COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Representatives from Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation as well as an accountant from Plante and Moran told Branch County Commissioners during their Thursday work session that the facility’s financial situation is improving.
The cut in residents during the COVID-19 pandemic has been claimed as the main reason Maple Lawn got into a tight financial position.
Plante Moran principal accountant Jon Lanczak said during a nearly 40 minute power point presentation that Maple Lawn was an efficient operation.
Maple Lawn Controller Jessica Worden was optimistic about the future.
She added they have increased their census by over 20 beds during the last couple of months. According to Worden, that would increase monthly revenues by over $213,000 at the current private pay rate.
Maple Lawn has been dealing with several financial issues for over a year and has been forced to get $500,000 advanced to them from the county to help them with cash flow matters.
They must pay the money back to the county by May 1, 2024.
