CENTREVILLE, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A narcotics investigation in St. Joseph County which started in April has resulted in the seizure of over 1,000 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine as well as other drugs and firearms
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman reports the investigation started when the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol stopped a motorcycle on U.S. 12 near Shimmel Road.
During the traffic stop, deputies were able to obtain probable cause for the first of three search warrants at the driver’s home in the 600 block of Park Street in the City of Sturgis.
Over 400 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Cocaine, LSD, and other drugs were found during the first search.
A large number of firearms were also found. Authorities say some of the weapons were stolen.
The St. Joseph County Special Response Team was activated on September 6 to conduct a search warrant at the suspects home.
The suspect was taken into custody at that time and lodged on numerous felony warrants and charges.
A third search warrant was then executed by the Sheriff’s Office, where 680 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine was found along with Cocaine and several firearms.
Bingaman stated, “holding those accountable for the illicit sales of Meth and Fentanyl continues to be the focus of the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and this is just another example of those efforts”.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by several outside agencies including: The St. Joseph County Special Response Team, Sturgis Public Safety, The Great Lakes Drone Team, The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, and the St. Joseph County Dispatch Center.
