Eugene Chester Wasielewski, 87 of Ida, MI formerly of Toledo, OH, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at LakeHouse Coldwater in Coldwater, MI. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be private. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born June 18, 1936, to Chet and Anna (Ripinski) Wasielewski in Toledo, OH. On November 18, 1960 Eugene married Sandra L. Spears and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2020. Eugene honorably served the Army National Guard and was a talented mechanic spending most of his career with Ed Schmidt Pontiac and Gump Cadillac but ultimately retired from Washington Local School System in Toledo, OH. From a young age Eugene played the drums, a passion that he would carry for a lifetime and one that led to his participation in the band “The Ambassadors” for many years. Cars were not only his career, but more importantly a major part of Eugene’s life from collecting them to even building his own Cadillac-powered, black 1951 Henry J. His early background in automobiles continued as a lifestyle. In building their life together, Eugene and Sandra shared the joys of dancing and traveling. Eugene had a limitless, unique sense of humor that never faded. He will be dearly missed as a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
Eugene leaves behind his children Jason (Kellie) Wasielewski of Reading, MI, Renee Wasielewski of Toledo, OH; his brother Ron Wasielewski; his grandchildren Todd (Tena) Wasielewski, Kassie (Brett) Clymer, JoMarie Wasielewski, Jayme Wasielewski; his great grandchildren Jayden, Alexis, Levi, Wade, Addison and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Sandra, he was preceded in death by his parents.
