BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A rezoning request for a proposed commercial self-storage facility on the east side of Bronson is scheduled to come before the Bronson City Council on Monday evening.
Applicant Tyler Stritzinger wants to rezone almost seven acres of property at 150 Wayne Street from the current R-3 Multi-Family District to B-3 Community Commercial District.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says Stritzinger is aiming to utilize the property for a commercial self-storage facility with the option for further commercial retail development in the future.
These uses are not permissible within the R-3 district.
The property is bordered by Wayne Street to the west, Dollar General Store and McDonalds to the north, multi and single-family residential to the south and west, and vacant land to the east.
According to Mersman’s memo to the Council, the applicant’s proposal involves the construction of a self-storage facility in a single phase, offering an estimated 16,000 square feet of commercial storage space across two all-steel buildings.
Each building will measure 40 feet in width, 200 feet in length, and 11 feet in height. A conceptual Site Plan has been submitted.
The Bronson Planning Commission voted 3-2 on September 14 against recommending that the zoning amendment be adopted by the Council.
We don’t want storage units we want a grocery store with meat and vegetables for people whom can’t shop outside of Bronson maybe a laundry matt too but no storage there all over put something in this town that people can use to survive of of not storage ……..
