TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan issued a tsunami advisory for the Izu, Ogasawara island areas in the eastern part of the country on Monday.
The tsunami is believed to have already arrived in the island areas, national broadcaster NHK said.
The advisory followed an earthquake of unknown magnitude near Torishima Island at 5:25 a.m. (JST), according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The tsunami had an expected height of 1 metre (3 feet), according to national broadcaster NHK.
