COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital recently received certification from the state of Michigan as a Level IV Trauma Center which allows the emergency department to provide advanced trauma life support before transferring patients to high-level trauma centers.
To become a Level IV Trauma Center, hospital administration must commit to the program and implement all requirements. ProMedica Coldwater began the trauma certification process in February of 2020.
Hospitals must hold disaster drills annually and include a multidisciplinary trauma committee for performance improvement.
Director of trauma care services Stephanie Lackey says, “We are excited to have the team’s hard work and dedication come to fruition. This certification demonstrates our expertise and the ability to provide an additional level of care to our community and patients. The process of getting to this certification took many members of our team collaborating and a rigorous review process.”
The hospital is verified for one year and will undergo a re-certification evaluation in 2024.
