LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan lawmakers are working on legislation that would limit the use of artificial intelligence in political ads across the state.
A collection of five bipartisan bills has been introduced in the House to put regulations on using AI in campaign materials and set punishments for violating the rules.
Any images used to promote a candidate or issue in Michigan that is generated by AI would need to include text to disclose that, with a similar audio disclosure required for created sound clips.
The measures were supported in a vote by the elections committee yesterday, so, they will move on for consideration by the full Michigan House.
