CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – You will probably need to take an alternate route and plan extra time for your drive on Wednesday morning as a crash that reportedly involved at least two semis has shut down a nearly six mile stretch of both sides of I-94 in Calhoun County.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reports the crash took place just before 4:30 a.m., on eastbound I-94 at Exit 100, near Beadle Lake Road where road construction is taking place.
MDOT says eastbound and westbound I-94 is closed between Exits 98 and 104 until further notice.
Emmett Township police have told WWMT-TV that a westbound semi swerved to avoid a construction barrel and hit another semi. Both trucks then went through the concrete median and into the eastbound lanes.
It’s was not immediately known if there were injuries. The crash has forced the Harper Creek School District to be shut down for the day.
