Lois Anne Swanson, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Hillside Terrace Senior Living in Ann Arbor.
A service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating.
Internment will take place Friday, December 1, 2023 at Catawba Island Cemetery in Port Clinton, OH at 1:00 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Lois was born July 27, 1932 to Raymond and Hazel (Grover) Petersen in Ecorse, MI. She married John T. Swanson on December 23, 1950 who preceded her in death exactly two years previous on November 22, 2021.
Mrs. Swanson was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was an active member at the Coldwater First Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon, Elder, and a long-time member of the choir. She was a board member with Habitat for Humanity and also volunteered with the Coldwater Christian Services Commission.
Lois enjoyed reading, spending time boating at her cottage on Catawba Island and her favorite pastime by far was spending time with family and her beloved grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her children John (Karen) Swanson of Mount Pleasant, SC, Eric (Hilary) Swanson of Ann Arbor, Janine Swanson of Coldwater, Julie (David) Burr of Bay Village, OH; her grandchildren John, Erin, Luke, Conor, Dylan, Alison, Holly, Joseph, Caleb, Kyle; and great grandchildren Elodie, Corinne, Trent, Maisie, Cade, Everett, Emersyn, Ellory, Avery and Sylvie; along with many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers George “Pete” Petersen, and Neil Petersen.
Memorials may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.
