COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – City of Coldwater I.T. Director Pat Pool updated the City Council during their meeting on Monday night about the latest steps they are taking to enhance cyber security.
He said the number one problem continues to be ransomware.
Other cyber security threats include hacking, environmental events, phishing attacks and impostor scams. Pool pointed out human error causes a majority of the problems.
He said citizens should keep their guard up against impostor scams.
Pool says you should report any suspicious e-mail or phone call. In addition, watch for misspelled words and unusual sent times in an e-mail and be aware of links and attachments that may steal your identity or launch a virus if you click them.
