Cecil Lynn Hill, 87, passed away December 14, 2023, in Coldwater, Michigan.
He spent his final days surrounded by all five of his children and the caring staff at LakeHouse of Coldwater, where he lived for the past eight years.
In keeping with Cecil’s wishes, he has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI 49094.
Cecil was born on December 22, 1935, in Union City, Michigan to Clair and Elinor (Johnson) Hill. Cecil attended Union City High School with the class of 1954, where he was involved in band, sports, and class leadership. Upon graduating, he spent six years in the National Guard.
Cecil married Nancy A. Bronson on October 28, 1956, and had five children. Nancy preceded him in death on November 5, 2012.
Cecil drove truck for Yellow Freight for 25 years, where he spent countless hours collecting and sharing jokes and stories over the CB radio. His life was filled with music, dancing, harness races, ball games, humor, and later, with building his reputation as the most eligible bachelor at LakeHouse of Coldwater.
His family will remember him as a loyal husband, loving father and grandfather who touched the lives of so many. His fun-loving goofiness was contagious and will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. An answer to his favorite question: “Where’s the boys?” Well, Gramps, hopefully the next life finds you where you’re happiest, “Wherever the girls are”. 10-4 Good Buddy.
A special thanks to Larry and Janet Ray, for all they have done for Cecil. The Hill family would also like to extend their gratitude to Trisha and her staff at LakeHouse of Coldwater and to Jennifer and Danielle of Elara Caring for their support and excellent care.
Cecil is survived by his daughters, Cecilia (Harold) Dietz, Kathy (Doug) Zabonick, and Pam (Rob) Putnam; and his sons, Bob (Lisa) Hill and Steven Hill. Cecil and Nancy were blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his beloved wife, Cecil is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, LaVerne Hill; his great-granddaughter, Norah Belle; and his canine best friend, Zak.
